Chaque printemps, leur nouvel assemblage donne lieu à un événement : Hear Palmer ou l’interprétation, au chai, en public, du millésime du moment par des jazzmen de renom. Vines with a view… the hallmarkof a great terroir, here embodied by two wines: Palmer and Alter Ego. Every spring, their renewed assemblage gives rise to an event: Hear Palmer, an interpretation of the current vintage, live front of an audience, in the barrel cellar, by renowned jazz artists. Le millésime s’annonce à part. À commencer par ses conditions climatiques : un hiver exceptionnellement doux, un printemps très pluvieux et un été relativement frais repoussent les vendanges au 3 octobre. Les plus tardives jamais enregistrées. Reste la qualité des raisins : leur intensité aromatique est extraordinaire. Après quelques mois d’élevage, les vins se distinguent, à leur tour, par un équilibre singulier, tout en textures et en velouté. De quoi inspirer Archie Shepp, reconnu pour la richesse et l’audace de son esthétique musicale, très personnelle, dense, rythmée et tendre à l’occasion.It’s a vintage with the makings of greatness, born of a year of uncommon weather conditions. To begin, there was an exceptionally mild winter, followed by a particularly rainy spring and a relatively cool summer, which together would delay the harvest until October 3 – the latest ever recorded. As for the quality of the grapes, their aromatic intensity proved to be extraordinary. After the first months of maturation, the wines have in turn distinguished themselves by their singular equilibrium, balancing generous textures and velvety character. A wealth of inspiration for Archie Shepp, renowned for the richness and audacity of his musical aesthetic, at once intensely personal, dense, rhythmic, and at times, ineffably tender.
Château Palmer & le jazz, une philosophie commune : Hear Palmer est né de la rencontre entre Jacky Terrasson, célèbre pianiste de jazz franco-américain, et Thomas Duroux, directeur général de Château Palmer. La mise en place de Hear Palmer résonnait comme une évidence aux oreilles des deux hommes, car entre Château Palmer et le jazz règne un savoureux dialogue fait de complexité et de spontanéité. A la fois universels et mystérieux, ils flirtent tout deux entre rigueur et improvisation. De ce mélange d’une passion pour le vin et d’une autre pour le jazz, a donc été organisé Hear Palmer 2009, première édition d’un événement devenu incontournable pour Château Palmer, où depuis sept ans maintenant, se succèdent de grands artistes de jazz.Château Palmer and Jazz, a shared philosophy: Hear Palmer came about following a meeting between Jacky Terrasson, a famous French-American jazz pianist andThomas Duroux, managing director of Château Palmer. There is a delicious dialogue of complexity and spontaneity between Château Palmer and Jazz so creating Hear Palmer seemed an obvious outcome to both men. Universal and mysterious, they both flirt with rigour and improvisation. From their passion for both wine and jazz, the first Hear Palmer was organised in 2009, the first edition of an event that has become a key part of the Château Palmer calendar, where for the past seven years great jazz artists have taken to the stage.
