Stunning E-Type cufflinks produced in collaboration between world renowned restoration and jewellery companies

Word renowned restoration company Classic Motor Cars in Bridgnorth and Icarus originals, the UK’s leading provider of bespoke unique hand-made precision engineered jewellery, based in Shrewsbury have come together to design and produce a stunning set of E-type cufflinks.

The cufflinks which are made solely from the original aluminium pistons from the most sought-after E-Type, a 1961 Series 1 fixed head coupé, were the idea of CMC’s Managing Director Nigel Woodward.

“We work on E-Types every day of the week,” said Nigel, “Owners are constantly asking for extras for their cars like bespoke picnic hampers and luggage or specific upgrades. It occurred to me that we should provide something for the owners themselves.”

Nigel, a private pilot, had seen jewellery that had been produced by Icarus originals made from original aircraft parts and realised that the company was based in nearby Shrewsbury and made contact.

There followed a series of meetings where the two companies got together to develop a design and see how metal from the pistons of an original E-type could be cast.

For founders of Icarus, John Mercer and Alan Lock who have backgrounds as RAF and Royal Navy Engineers respectively, this was an area they had not worked in before. Gaining their reputation by working with groups restoring iconic aircraft such as the fastest ever Concorde or the last flying Vulcan to create unique, handcrafted pieces, the pair jumped at the chance to develop a product made using only material sourced from such a legendary vehicle.

John Mercer said: “Although this is our first foray into automotive heritage, when you look at first rate classics like the Series 1 E-Type, they share all the same design qualities as aviation icons such as the Concorde; a sense of purpose, potency and beauty”.

Alan Lock added: “We’re immensely proud to have worked with Classic Motor Cars on this exciting project.  As a company, their values align with ours completely and each individual cufflink is a testament to the work they do to preserve motoring heritage”.

Nigel Woodward said: “Icarus have done a fantastic job, and many will be proud to own and wear such a fine set of cufflinks. This certainly won’t be the last item that we work with them on. Perhaps our next items should be a piece of jewellery for women!

The cufflinks, which are a limited edition of 750.come in a mahogany box with a certificate of authentication. They cost £169.99 inclusive of post and packing.

They can be ordered directly from Icarus.

First Great Garage Sale at CMC a Great Success

Company announces valuation day and two major auctions for next year

CMC held its first “great garage Sale at their head quarters in Brignorth on Saturday October 5th and £10,000 changed hands with more than 300 eclectic lots of automobilia being offered.

As a result the company has announced that it is to run two major Great garage Sales at the venue next year, which will also include classic cars motorcycles and classic parts.

Nigel Woodward Managing Director at CMC said: We wanted to put our toe in the water and see if how an auction would work. It was so successful that we have decided to run two major auctions every year as well as some ancillary events.

The first of these will be a valuation day and book fair which will be held on Saturday February 29th.

Nigel added: “ I am very keen to ensure that the quality that CMC has always upheld in its restoration is also upheld in the auctions that we have in the future.

“To that end when we hold out first car auction next year every car or motorcycle that is entered will automatically receive a CMC inspection. An inspection report will then be available to the owner whether the car sells or not. This should give greater comfort to bidders and sellers alike and will be something that will be part of the cars or motorcycles portfolio. If we feel a car or a bike has a major problem then it will not be included in the sale. “

Nigel said that the sales would benefit anyone who wished to sell cars, spare parts, automobilia, motoring art and motoring toys.

He added: “ We had to turn away dozens of vendors wishing to enter lots for Saturdays sale and we had enquiries from people wishing to sell their cars and parts. So on that basis at least one of the sales will be held over two days so that everyone is catered for and the sale can become a major event in the classic car colander that will cater for all interests.

“ We will not charge a sellers commission on any lots. For automobilia, parts cars and motorcycles there will be a buyers commission of 15%.”

Nigel said: The valuation day and motoring book fair on February 29th will give people the opportunity to bring their treasured items to be valued and entered into the forthcoming auctions. We are happy to store automobilia and even cars subject to discussions with the owners. I understand that some car owners may not wish to venture out in February and if not we can work with them and appraise and value any car with up to three weeks to go before any car auction date.”

Guy Loveridge from Loveridge Agents and Auctioneers who ran the Saturday sale for CMC said: It was a great sale with bidders from all over the world taking part. Important lots included an original Enzo Ferrari signed letter; a bound set of Autosport from 1950-1964 and a rare selection of Michelin items. With a 50% sales rate on the hammer, and plenty of interest in after sale deals, I am delighted with this first result and looking forward to working with CMC again in 2020.”

A star lot at the auction that caught everyone by surprise was a Michelin man thermos flask guided at £30 to £50, which sold for £155 including commission and VAT.

Dates of the two auctions will be announced shortly and one of them will coincide with the annual CMC open day.

Duckhams Director Martin Gough, who is responsible for classic, motorsport and industrial oils for the Duckhams brand that was reintroduced just two years ago said: “This new relationship with CMC is really important to us andtheir professional workshop facilities are extremely well appointed. Nigel said: “When we carry out a nut and bolt classic car restoration, we will test a car for a minimum of 500 miles.The standard of workmanship that we demand also requires that we use only the best quality lubrication and Duckhams provides us just that. But it won’t stop there; CMC will work with Duckhams on new services and products for the classic car community and evaluate and test them in its workshops.

Duckhams and CMC are also planning a series of events for classic car owners from special “workshop sessions” when owners can come visit CMC and see the latest “oil technology” to an annual rally and local meet and greet sessions throughout the country.

1954 Jaguar XK120 SE by Pininfarina @ Pebble Beach Concours 2017_Classic Motor Cars (Ph Wouter Melissen)1954 Jaguar XK120 SE by Pininfarina_Classic Motor Cars (Ph Justin Leighton)

PRESS RELEASE

Restored one-off XK120 by Pininfarina unveiled at Pebble Beach

This 1954 XK120 SE by Pininfarina could be the rarest Jaguar ever

After a full nut and bolt restoration taking 6,725 hours by world-class specialists Classic Motor Cars (CMC), the wraps came off this unique Pininfarina bodied 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE yesterday at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, USA.

The car was well received by the crowd of collectors and aficionados gathered at the event and finished second in class O-2 Postwar Closed. Peter Neumark, Chairman of the Employee Ownership Trust that runs CMC, said: “A great result! It was a privilege to take the cover off this long-lost Jaguar at one of the most important Concours in the world.”

He added: “The car was admired all day and we are delighted to be bringing a trophy home as a further testimony to the skills, dedication and attention to detail that we have in our business.”

This XK120 features unique bodywork by famed Italian coachbuilder and design house Pininfarina. It was first delivered to a Mr Max Hoffman in 1954, who was an Austrian-born, New York-based importer of luxury European automobiles into the United States during the 1950s.

He was a petrol-head who inspired the production and refinement of several vehicles from the main manufacturers, which earned him entry into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 2003. It is believed that Hoffman inspired Pininfarina to reinterpret the shapes of the XK and then unveiled it at the 1955 Geneva Motor Show.

After the unveiling in Geneva, the XK appeared at the Autocar Show later in April that year and Australian magazine Modern Motor reported that it was due to be exhibited at the Turin Motor Show in 1956, but never arrived due to the owner wanting to take delivery of it.

David Barzilay, Chairman of CMC’s operating board, said: “There is little trace of the car’s history, but we are certain that Hoffman was the supplying dealer, then first owner of the car and that there was only one XK120 by Pininfarina produced, which makes this one of the rarest Jaguars in existence.”

In 2015, CMC purchased the car from a German gentleman who bought it in the USA in 1978 with the intention of restoring it. Unfortunately, he never got round to it and eventually decided to sell. CMC took on the challenge and have restored every nut and bolt of the vehicle.

The team of specialists faced a number of challenges during the restoration, from finding the original paint colour to remaking the bumpers and rear window screen.

Barzilay said: “Some of the original parts were impossible to find so we had to remake items such as the bumpers and chrome work by hand from photographs. We had to scan the front and rear end of the car and make mock ups of the lights, which were then scanned and 3D printed. Smaller missing parts were also 3D printed in-house.

“The rear window was missing so we also had to scan the window aperture and have a new rear screen made from the scan data.”

During the pre-restoration inspection it was found that Pininfarina had used the original XK body as a basis, and that, at some point in its life, the car was painted Burgundy and had the seats covered with tan leather.

Barzilay said: “There were no signs of the original paint colour and it all came down to the last nut and bolt. When the front screen was removed, we discovered a small section of original paint and used it as a colour match.”

He added: “The interior trim door cards were missing, along with the carpets and the original colour of the trim, but we discovered a small sample of original Ochre tan leather when we stripped the car down. This was colour matched and the original type and colour leather was used to recreate the interior. The shape and pattern of the door cards was created by looking at similar Pininfarina designed cars from the period.”

Restoration specification:

PRESS RELEASE

E-Type found in pieces to be given new lease of life

One of the first 500 E-Types produced by Jaguar has been found in pieces in France and is to be brought back to life by world-class restorers Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth (CMC).

Chassis No. 875256 is one of the very early 3.8 left hand drive, open two seater, outside bonnet lock models with all matching numbers.

It was delivered new to the Belgium Motor Company dealership in Brussels in July 1961 and was subsequently sold to ‘Societe de Civel Immeubles en Afrique.’ It resurfaced in France in 2015 and records indicate that it was imported from Luxembourg in 1975.

The car is very complete, although in parts, and was bought by the previous owner to be restored. He gave it to French restorers who started work on the car, but shortly after took it away and kept it safe in his garage in Grigny in the southern suburbs of Paris, France.

David Barzilay, Chairman of CMC, said: “Chassis No. 875256 is literally in boxes in our workshops awaiting a much needed nut and bolt restoration. It will be a challenging project but all the factory parts are there and our skilled fabricators and technicians will do all they can to save as much as the original car as possible. It will roll out of our workshops just like it left Browns Lane in 1961.”

He added: “We are currently delving through the car’s history files to find out more about its life. These early E-Types are sought after by collectors and investors alike, and the fact that they keep on resurfacing after years in the dark is still amazing.”

CMC is famous for having restored some of the most historic E-Types, including Lofty England’s Chassis No. 4, the Lindner-Nöcker Lightweight and 1VHP, the first RHD Coupe off the production line and the first of only four outside bonnet lock cars.

In 2016 and after 2,956hrs, they completed the restoration of E-Type Chassis No. 15, also found in France in a very sorry state. This was the fifteenth right hand drive fixed head coupe E-Type to leave Jaguar’s production line in 1961 and the press car that turned heads at the Scottish Motor Show that year.

PRESS RELEASE

Staff at world-class classic car restorers come together to produce the ultimate E-Type Jaguar Restoration Manual

The staff at Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth (CMC), who restored 1961 Jaguar E-Type Chassis No. 60 owned by Chris Anderson, used the car as the basis of the ultimate E-Type Jaguar Restoration Manual.

The manual will take the reader through the full nut-and-bolt restoration of a very early example, E-Type Chassis No 60. Skilled mechanics and technicians from world-class restorers CMC, have written each chapter, giving a first-hand account of the process with 224 pages and 700 photos showing the level of detail that goes into their award-winning restorations.

The car was the sixtieth E-Type to leave Jaguar’s production line in 1961; not only a very early ‘flat floor’ 3.8 litre model dating from the first few weeks of production, but also one of the earliest surviving right-hand drive E-Type roadsters, and had never been restored. Anderson bought it at auction in 2013 and sent it to CMC to bring it back to the condition that it would have left the factory in 1961.

It took CMC 3,500 hours to restore and since then it has received many awards, including Best of Show at the 2015 RAC Midsummer Drive-In.

David Barzilay, Chairman of CMC and editor of the manual, said: “CMC wanted to provide the ultimate E-Type restoration manual and they decided that the best way to do it was to allow individual specialists to write their own chapters.”

He added: “We are delighted to have presented the manual at the first ever City Concours at the Honourable Artillery Company headquarters in the heart of the City of London, where Chassis No 60 was on display for two days alongside more than 80 exceptional historic and modern cars.”

The E-Type Restoration Manual is available in hardback (£40) format. It can be purchased from www.classic-motor-cars.co.uk/classic-car-parts/books_63.

PRESS RELEASE

World-renowned classic car restoration company given to staff

A highly successful and globally renowned classic car restoration company in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, which last year turned over £5.2 million, has been given to the staff by its owner.Classic Motor Cars Ltd (CMC) employs more than sixty staff and has restored some of the world’s most important cars including many famous Jaguars.

The company has become an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), which means that the staff will own and run the business themselves.

Peter Neumark, who has owned and chaired the company since its inception in 1993, said: “I am nearer seventy than sixty and Nick Goldthorp, who founded this great business with me and has been largely responsible for where we are today, is now approaching retirement age, so we felt we had a duty to oversee a passing of responsibility, and who better than the workforce themselves.”

So on Friday 26th of August 2016, a majority shareholding owned by the chairman was transferred into a new entity The Classic Motor Cars Ltd Employee Shareholder Trust, thereby passing control to a trust set up for the benefit of the employees of CMC.

Peter Neumark added: “This sort of structure best exemplified by the John Lewis Partnership was deemed to be the best home for the company to ensure its future, safeguarding the jobs of its highly skilled workforce and providing stability for future growth and prosperity.

“Virtually every example of an EOT business we looked at showed greater profitability, greater productivity, better staff retention and ultimately of course happier customers. I am extremely proud of what we have achieved and I look forward to watching the company continue to set the standards for world-class car restoration.”

Tim Leese, Managing Director of the new operational board, said: “These are very exciting times and the whole team is very grateful for Peter’s generosity and everyone looks forward to making a greater contribution to the company’s future success.”

The day to day management of the business will be controlled by an operational board, chaired by David Barzilay and comprising of Managing Director Tim Leese, Production Director Tim Griffin, non-execs Nick Goldthorp and Richard Charlesworth (latterly of Bentley).

They in turn will report to a board of trustees who are responsible for the good governance of the company and ensuring it is run in the best interests of its beneficiaries, the employees.

The board of trustees is comprised of outside professionals, chaired by Peter Neumark with an employee trustee, Luke Martin, voted on by his fellow workers, and former non-exec operational board member Richard Coe.

Currently the company is working on more than 22 classic car restorations including many famous marques such as, Aston Martin, Jaguar and Lancia, amongst others.

Le Mans XK 140 PWT 846 (5)XK140 returns to Le Mans_2 (Matt Howell_CMC)XK140 returns to Le Mans_1 (Matt Howell_CMC)

The Jag is back: Only XK 140 to race at Le Mans returns to the famous circuit this weekend for Le Mans Classic

Restored and prepared by Classic Motor Cars (CMC)

The only Jaguar XK 140 FHC to race in the 24hs of Le Mans in 1956, and was erroneously black flagged, returns to the famous circuit 60 years later for a rematch at Le Mans Classic this weekend. This XK140 was privately entered into the race and driven by Roger Walshaw and Peter Bolton in 1956, but it was erroneously disqualified while running in 11th place with 206 laps.

The car, which was recently restored and race prepared by world-leading restorers and Jaguar specialists Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth (CMC), is being taken back by its current owner Mr. Peter Neumark.

It will be competing in the Grid 2 class for cars manufactured between 1949 and 1956 and also in the Jaguar Classic Challenge.

“The opportunity to restore the only Jaguar XK 140 to race in the 24hs of Le Mans 60 years ago was compelling,” said Peter. “In 1956 this private entry car astounded the crowds and was running 11th in the 21st hour of the race when it was cruelly and wrongfully black flagged.

“The offer of a free entry from the ACO for the following year’s race was a scant recompense for what would have been at least a top ten finish, but the car never returned until now.”

Peter added: “It is a privilege to take this car back to Le Mans and drive it in what will probably be my last competitive race on a circuit I love and where I won in 2010 in the Jaguar D-Type OKV1.”

Nick Goldthorp, Managing Director of CMC, said: “The car has been completely restored from the chassis up, covering every nut and bolt, and saving as much of the original vehicle as possible due to its prominent racing pedigree.”

Once a showstopper, always a showstopper

The world-class restoration of 1961 Jaguar E-Type Chassis No. 15 by Classic Motor Cars is to feature at the London Classic Car Show 2016

The E-Type that turned heads at the 1961 Scottish Motor Show has been brought back to its former glory by world-leading restorers Classic Motor Cars (CMC) and will feature centre stage at CMC’s stand (C40) at the London Classic Car Show on February 18-21.Chassis No. 15 was the fifteenth right hand drive fixed head coupe E-Type to leave Jaguar’s production line in 1961 and was used as a press car at the Scottish Motor Show held at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, in November that year.

The car then moved on to private ownership and went missing for decades until CMC discovered it in a barn in Cernay, France, in late 2013.

Exactly 2,956hrs were spent restoring every nut and bolt of this E-Type at CMC’s modern workshops in Bridgnorth, saving as much of the original car as possible and bringing back its show-stopping condition.

Nick Goldthorp, Managing Director of Classic Motor Cars, said: “We found Chassis No. 15 in Cernay, a French town close to the border with Germany. It had been owned by the same person since 1976, who dismantled it probably some twenty years ago and that is as far as he got.

“The car was underneath some covers in a garden, very rusty and corroded – there was even a bird’s nest in the rear quarter! We carried out a full nut and bolt restoration, which proved to be quite a challenge due to the sorry state in which it was found.”

However, CMC is known to never back down from a challenging restoration and has a reputation for having restored some of the most historic E-Types, including Lofty England’s Chassis No. 4, the Lindner-Nöcker Lightweight and 1VHP, the first right hand drive fixed head coupe off the production line.

Nick said: “No detail was too small and extensive work has been carried out in the paint and trim shops so that the car can now boast its original colour combination of pearl grey exterior and light blue interior, being the only one produced in those colours in 1961.

“This was one of the six E-Types on display at the 1961 Scottish Motor Show. After restoring it to its former glory, we thought it was only fitting that the car returned to the centre stage 55 years later and what could be better than the London Classic Car Show.”

CMC will have the car on display at their stand (C40) at the London Classic Car Show at the ExCeL exhibition centre in London on February 18-21.

Philip Dunne MP unveils the 1955 Lancia Aurelia that the eight CMC apprentices will restore over the next 14 months_CMC_1In 14 months, Philip Dunne MP will be driving this Lancia Aurelia, after it has been fully restored by CMC apprentices_CMC_2

For the first time British apprentices will restore a classic car from start to finish

For the first time ever in the UK a nut and bolt restoration of a classic car is to be undertaken by apprentices who are serving their time at a Shropshire company

MP for Ludlow and Minister of State for Defence Procurement Philip Dunne has unveiled the first car ever to be fully restored by apprentices in the UK.

The eight apprentices are all employed by Classic Motor Cars Ltd (CMC), one of the world’s premier restoration companies based in Bridgnorth, and will be given the chance to re-build a 1955 Series 4 Lancia Aurelia and learn the complete restoration process.

They will strip the Lancia Aurelia and then assess what needs to be replaced, restored or remade. They have been given 14 months to complete the restoration of the car.

Mr Dunne said: “It is great news that Shropshire apprentices will become the first in the UK to undertake a complete restoration of a classic car.

“I am pleased Bridgnorth’s Classic Motor Cars is committed to training apprentices, giving local school-leavers the chance to build knowledge, acquire practical skills and improve their job prospects for the future. Employers also benefit from apprenticeship programmes, as they can bring on the skills needed to expand their business by training young people, and can oversee training from start to finish.”

He added: “More than 3,000 apprenticeships have been started in the Ludlow Constituency since 2010, and I hope we will see this figure continue to rise as more young people and employers gain mutual benefits.

“This vehicle restoration will be a really exciting project for all eight apprentices, so I look forward to seeing them again with the completed Lancia Aurelia next year.”

The eight apprentices are Dan Conway (23) from Bridgnorth, who is learning his trade in the body shop and leading the team; Sam Gould (23) also from Bridgnorth and Luke Adams (22) from Wolverhampton, both in the trim department; Jack Brettle (19), who is a mechanical technician from Kingswinford; Charlie Jessop (23) from Dudley in the paint shop; mechanical technician Marcus Nemeth (20) from Wolverhampton; electrical apprentice Tom Smallman (24); and engine builder Ben Taylor (22), both from Bridgnorth.

After unveiling the car at CMC on Friday 8th January, Philip Dunne talked to apprentices about the work that they will undertake on the car, which is owned by one of CMC’s Non-Executive Directors David Barzilay, from re-making body panels, rebuilding the engine, re-wiring, re-painting and re-trimming.

Dan Conway said: “It is an exciting and unique opportunity to be able to learn as we work on the Lancia; we are really looking forward to it. It’s a completely apprenticeship-based project, but we have a lot of experience on our side and the support from skilled senior managers who will mentor us through the restoration process.”

Peter Neumark, Chairman of CMC, said: “We carry out restorations for customers around the world, but as far as we know this is the first time that apprentices in the UK have been given the opportunity of restoring a classic car from scratch themselves.

“Apprentices are extremely important in the world of classic cars, which is worth several billions to the UK economy every year. It is essential that they learn the skills to keep classic vehicles on the road. We are proud of the fact that currently we have more than one apprentice for every ten members of our workforce.

David Barzilay, Non-Executive Director at CMC, said: “I wanted the apprentices to work on this car as it is a vehicle that they will not have had experience of before. They will have to research the vehicle, and the marque, before stripping it down to its component parts and then deciding what needs to be restored, replaced or re built.

“They will be able to get help and advice from their managers as well as a Lancia expert who has been to see them, but it will be a challenge that will be an important part of their training with the company.”

The first step will be to strip the car completely, number all the parts and then decide a detailed plan of action. It is planned that the car will be “ready for action” by April next year when it will return to Italy to take part in a number of events including the Vernasca Silver Flag Hill Climb.

Mark 2 by Callum unveiled
Ian Callum puts his personal twist on the famous Mark 2

Thursday 28th August 2014 – A unique Jaguar Mark 2 redesigned by Ian Callum, Director of Design at Jaguar Cars, and reengineered by leading restorers Classic Motor Cars Limited (CMC) has been unveiled at the opening of the company’s new headquarters in Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

The building was officially opened by motorcycle and Formula One Grand Prix world champion John Surtees OBE and the car was unveiled by Jaguar’s legendary test driver Norman Dewis.

CMC’s new building complex is one of the biggest of its kind in the UK. Fitted out to the highest standards and with new paint and trim shops, it provides some 40,000 square feet of production space, allowing CMC to cover every aspect of a car’s restoration in-house, except for chrome plating. Another 24,000 square feet is provided for bespoke classic car storage.

This exciting 18 month joint project between Ian Callum and CMC has endeavoured to retain the integrity of the original Mark 2, whilst making it even more exciting in shape and performance.

Ian Callum said: “This is a very personal statement. A long held notion that, although the Mark 2 has always been a beautiful car, it could be even more exciting in shape and performance. Whilst maintaining the purity of the car’s form, I wanted to add a number of modern twists to the design. Simplification and clarity was my objective.”

The car has been redesigned by Ian for his own personal use and, working with CMC’s engineers, it now boasts a huge number of aesthetic and technical modifications that make this a practical, reliable, enjoyable and exciting everyday vehicle.

Featuring a modified and uprated 4.3 litre XK engine, 5-speed manual gearbox, unique independent rear suspension and upgraded front brakes, the Mark 2 by Callum provides an intuitive driving experience.

Commenting on the specifications, Ian said: “The stance of the Mark 2 is already excellent, but I wished to make it even better. The car’s form is now 30mm lower and sits on 17” split rim spoke wheels. The bumpers are now part of the overall form. It is a fine balance of extracting and adding.

“I have always loved traditional louvres as seen on many older race cars. Four louvres appear on the side of the car to add to that sense of power and ‘something different’. Of course they had to work, so they have been designed in a low-pressure area for a better internal airflow from the modified engine.”

The suspension has been designed and reengineered by CMC. The front incorporates a bespoke power assisted rack, uprated coil springs, roll bar and wishbone bushes, adjustable dampers and solid subframe mountings, repositioned to improve anti-dive characteristics. The unique independent rear suspension now includes uprated coil springs, blade control wishbones, outboard disc brakes, an anti-roll bar and adjustable dampers.

The car has been fitted with Clarion’s NZ502E single DIN multimedia station, a high technology in car entertainment system with a 16cm flip-out touch screen, amongst other features, and component loudspeakers in specially-designed housings. The cabling has been provided by VDC Trading, as used in the world’s top recording and mastering studios, such as Abbey Road.

Peter Neumark, Chairman of CMC, said: “The wide-ranging list of modifications in the Mark 2 shows just how much design and engineering development has gone into this venture from the original car. To be chosen by Ian Callum to work with him on his project is a testament to the skills and passion that exist within our business, and is something that CMC are immensely proud of.”

Ian said: “Every time I go to CMC it excites me to see so many wonderful machines being worked on with passion. I always leave feeling a much happier person.”

John Surtees OBE said: “I have long admired the designs of Ian Callum, to be present at the unveiling of Ian’s personally redesigned and updated Jaguar Mark 2 is a privilege, and I am honoured to be officially opening the premises that have made this extraordinary project possible”.

Norman Dewis said: “I have been associated with Jaguar for more than 60 years and was their Chief Development Test Engineer for 33 years. I have always been excited to work with them and over the years I have come to know and respect the work that CMC have carried out restoring Jaguar’s heritage. Mark 2 by Callum is something special and I was delighted when I was asked to unveil the car. It is something that both Ian Callum and CMC should be very proud of”.

CMC and Ian Callum would like to thank Clarion, Royal Air Force Museum Cosford, Severn Valley Railway and VDC Trading.

Note to editors:
The car will make its first outing to Salon Prive on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of September at Syon House in Brentford, TW8 8JF.
