GARY LUCAS is just back from Hollywood, where he packed the Silent Movie Theatre accompanying the 1931 Spanish “Dracula” with his original solo guitar score:

This was Gary’s second stellar performance with Spanish “Dracula” this summer, after his appearance at the Jerusalem Film Festival early July.

featuring Shanghai divas Sally Kwok and Maggie Mo.http://www.garylucas.com/epkGary brings this project with his two singers and his band Gods and Monsters to BAM’s Fisher Space Oct 4th and 5th– preceded by shows at Yale University and Bergen College.
Next Thursday Aug. 15th, Gary debuts his new 5 piece tribute band “The World of Captain Beefheart” , featuring Nona Hendryx on vocals, at a private event in Bridgehampton, Long Island.
This follows Gary’s acclaimed Captain Beefheart Tribute with Nona Hendryx and the 65-piece Metropole Orchestra at the Amsterdam Paradiso last February:
Gary’s latest album “Cinefantastique” is released Oct. 1st on Northern Spy Records, and includes excerpts from his original live scores for Spanish “Dracula”, Abel Gance’s “J’accuse”, and Rene Clair’s “Entr’acte”–
plus solo arrangements of music from the films of Fellini, Hitchcock, Herzog, Bela Tarr, Jacques Tati, and others.

On October 25th, Gary’s new book– “Touched by Grace–My Time with Jeff Buckley” –is published in English in the US and UK by Jawbone Press–distributed in the US by Hal Leonard.

Gary Lucas and Peter Hammill (Van Der Graaf Generator) have signed with UK label Esoteric/Cherry Red Records for their new duo album “OTHERWORLD”, released Feb. 2014.
A tour of the UK and Europe in support of the album is in the works.
