The Neostalgia Quartet is a New York-based international ensemble featuring French singer, composer Pascalito (aka Pascal Sabattier), Brazilian pianist, arranger and musical director Luiz Simas and a young rhythm section including Brazilian bassist Leco Reis and American drummer Conor Meehan. The band performs a colorful and eclectic repertoire blending bossa nova, pop, flamenco, swing, bolero, tango, chanson and more, taking the listener on a timeless musical journey filled with jazzy sophistication and cinematic lyricism. Their Paris-born bandleader Pascalito (Pascal Sabattier) was recently naturalized a US citizen at a special ceremony hosted by Hilda Solis, the US Secretary of Labor (photographed above). Inspired by his newly dual national status (France / USA), the singer with a “handsome voice” (Time Out) bilingually billed his new show “Citizen Chanteur”.Mediterranean by heart. Parisian by birth. New Yorker by choice. Latin by soul. World chanteur.
Pascalito grew up in Paris in a musical family of Mediterranean Jewish descent. He relocated to New York in the late 90’s where he became a rising young talent on the jazz and world music scene performing at such renowned venues as Le Poisson Rouge and the Kitano while supporting his artistry working as a risk analyst for various investment banks. Pascalito first gained national exposure when original songs from his debut album “Le Blues d’Orphee” (2007) were licensed and featured in two popular cable TV shows “Damages” (FX) and “Burn Notice” (USA). His second album “Neostalgia” (2011), a world pop jazz crossover, was critically acclaimed by the press and received both national and international radio airplay.
