“Silver’s….voice is like pure sterling. Her phrasing is exquisite, her clarity and enunciation on par with the great Jo Stafford and her breath control – a talent so often, and so wrongfully, overlooked – rivals Sinatra’s.”
Christopher Loudon, JazzTimes.com“She has the talent to be included among today’s best female jazz singers”
Wilbert Sostre, AllAboutJazz.com

The highlight was Silver’s captivating interpretation of “The Meaning of the Blues.”

On her stunning sophomore recording (Dream Awhile), New York native and award-winning vocalist Audrey Silver presented a collection of beloved standards to critical acclaim.  As Geannine Reid wrote in JazzTimes, “Her tone is round, warn and wrapped with a low timber, it sends chills up your spine…Not since Karen Carpenter have I heard such a strong alto voice that is so pure and so convincing.”

For her appearance at The Metropolitan Room, Audrey will be performing songs from her first two recordings (Here in My Arms and Dream Awhile), some of her own compositions, and will be previewing songs from her third album, to be released in the Spring. Her band includes: Bruce Barth, a pianist who “digs deep to his true soul in the keyboard language….self-assured and full of ideas.…” (Downbeat); in demand bassist, Paul Beaudry who has toured worldwide as a sideman with Steve Turre, Wycliffe Gordon, Allan Harris, Winard Harper and Eric Lewis; and trumpeter Alex Norris, ”a cunning improviser who occasionally reveals the influence of Miles Davis” (All About Jazz) and has worked with The Village Vanguard Orchestra, The Mingus Big Band, Betty Carter and Avishai Cohen.
