Saxophonist/flautist Carol Sudhalter is a 2012 nominee in the Best International Jazz Flutist category in Down Beat Magazine’s 77th annual Jazz Readers’ Poll. She spent the summer touring Italy including 5 nights in Sardinia, and UK including London, Coventry, Birmingham Festival and Devon with such celebrated performers as pianist Craig Milverton, vocalist Louise Parker and drummer Vittorio Sicbaldi.

The two dates listed below are funded by grants from local arts foundations.

Carol also offers a masterclass, ‘English Diction for Singers’, which she has given in Rome, Milan, Brescia, Venice, Cuneo and Sardinia. She is fluent in Italian and several other languages.

Sat., Oct. 13 , 3 pm: Steinway Reformed Church, Astoria Jazz Band (quintet) concert featuring Octogenarian of Jazz, bassist/author Bill Crow  with Carol Sudhalter on saxes and flute; Bill Wurtzel on guitar; Dave Ruffels on bass, and Doug Richardson on drums. Sat., November 3, 3 pm:  Steinway Reformed Church, 41 St. and Ditmars Blvd., Astoria: 16-piece Astoria Big Band Concert, with new arrangements by band members! Special guest organist/bassist/arranger from Bari, Italy, Vito Di Modugno!! This event is made possible (in part) by the Queens Council on the Arts with public funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs,  administered by the Queens Council on the Arts.
