“Baggage Claim” Climbs the Charts!
Penned by Miranda, Luke Laird and Natalie Hemby, ‘Baggage Claim’ is the first single from Miranda’s forthcoming album, Four The Record. The song’s official add date to country radio isn’t until August 22, but “Baggage Claim” entered at No. 33 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, marking Miranda’s highest single debut of her career.
“It’s the grooviest song I’ve ever recorded,” Lambert said in an email press statement. “It makes you want revenge and want to dance all at the same time.” The song includes background vocals from Lambert’s friend and former touring partner Josh Kelley.

Pistol Annies News
Who’s the hottest new country act of the year? With one single to their name, a debut album still two weeks away from store shelves, and Miranda Lambert in the lineup, the answer just might be Pistol Annies.
The red-hot trio — consisting of Lambert (Lone Star Annie), Angaleena Presley (Holler Annie) and Ashley Monroe (Hippie Annie) recently sat down to do an interview with Taste of Country to dish a little about their first album, ‘Hell on Heels,’ and discuss the balance between solo songwriting and life as a group.
“We actually met like two-and-a-half years ago,” explains Presley. “Ashley and Miranda had co-written a few songs that didn’t really fit on their solo albums and they didn’t know what to do with them, but they didn’t want to give them away because they were great songs.”
She adds, “Ashley played Miranda some of my music and she loved it and they called me at two o’clock in the morning, forced me out of bed and made me email them my whole record and that’s all she wrote.”
“It’s nerve-wracking for me especially,” says Lambert. “I have a solo career and didn’t want people to compare it or say negative things about the project. So far, knock on wood, we’ve had really great reviews and really great fan response. It feels good to know what we thought was so great, other people do too. Read the entire Q&A interview here.

MuttNation Foundation News
MuttNation Foundation finalized the total tally for endowment to the Humane Society Of East Texas. The total was $200,000! With the downturn of the economy this funding will help to keep over 200 animals housed and treated until they can find their forever homes. HSOET is averaging 100 pet adoptions per month thanks to your continued support!
The Tishomingo Animal Shelter is scheduled to open the gates on August 15th. The shelter was constructed using funds from the Hearts & Tails concerts (Blake and Miranda) as well as funds donated from MuttNation Foundation. Tishomingo formerly housed the unwanted and abandoned pets in chain link cages with tarps covering them. The animals of Johnston County send tail wags, licks and thanks to all of you who contributed to the building of the shelter by attending concerts or donating to MuttNation Foundation!
