The Syngenta Photography Award is pleased to announce the winning commission exhibition of Berlin-based photographer Mustafah Abdulaziz, the first prize winner of the Professional Commission category of the Award’s 2014/2015 edition. The latest installment of Abdulaziz’s ongoing Water series focuses on the photographer’s home state California, which has been in the grip of a record, multi-year drought. Abdulaziz has illustrated California’s natural and man-made terrain with dramatic landscape shots, alongside humanistic scenes highlighting how the region has been challenged by scarcity. The work will be debuted at the National Geographic Museum in Washington DC, as part of Foto DC (12 – 20 November). The Water series has taken the photographer to India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Nigeria, Brazil and China and awarded him international acclaim.
