Good Evening, Planet Earth!
Double shot of rock n’ roll this week – in addition to tracking guitars all week, I also had VIP 6th row seats to Bon Jovi at the ACC here in Toronto last Monday night.
Last weekend I welcomed guitarist Chris Steberl and mutual rock buddy Bob Holobaugh to Toronto via Cleveland (see pic above). Chris and I had demo’ed some tunes together over the past couple years and decided to record 2 of them for my new album “Dangerously Close”. It was great having my American mates in the environment and it was the first time I had met them both face to face. They were only in town for 48 hrs but during that time we got the sounds we wanted from Chris’ “Cookie Monster” guitar on tape at Metalworks Studios AND managed to get to a late night jam session in Mississauga as well at Fionn MacCool’s.
Monday night was an experience too… me and the gang that flew in from Bermuda (Sue, Bryony & Ian) had VIP tickets to the Bon Jovi concert at Air Canada Centre. Included was the pre-show “fans only” party with open bar – definitely a plus and a minus all rolled into one!! Yes, I remember watching the whole show, but afterwards things get hazy… we’ve got lots of pics to document the evening and they will wind up on Facebook in the next week or so when I get the chance 🙂
Overall it was a great show and guitarist Richie Sambora was playing at his best and was awesome to watch.. Jon was ok 😉 Light show was spectacular but the mix could have been better, especially for sitting right on the floor at 6th row.
I have a VIDEO BLOG from the heart of Metalworks Studios giving you all an update on the status of the album for this week’s MUSIC VIDEO WEEKLY.
I’m right in the thick of it, folks! This weekend edition of the newsletter is just making it out the door before I need to get cracking back on tunes and takes – it’s just vocals and mixing left now.
