There are some harsh realities we, as Black people, must acknowledge about living in America.
One of those realities is knowing that you’re never too educated, too successful, or too obedient to be sucked into the penal system. Another harsh reality is that the process of funneling people through prison starts as early as elementary school.
Systemic forms of racism such as the school-to-prison pipeline are real, and our children are the primary demographic being funneled into this vicious cycle.

Last year, award-winning filmmaker Rahiem Shabazz released a riveting documentary titled Elementary Genocide: From Primary to Penitentiary that explored the school-to-prison pipeline, a systemic cycle that funnels children into the prison industrial complex.
