I have been reading an eleven novel sequence by C.P. Snow called Strangers & Brothers which covers the years 1905 – 1965. This is one of the major literary documents of the 20th century. C.P. Snow knows how to write ambiguity and complexity of character better than anyone I have encountered in a long time. If you are interested in English life during the 20th century, this is an unparalleled visit to that period. It’s like time travel with an intelligent and perceptive guide.
I will visit Austin, Texas, in early December to play with Freddie Krc and Kristina Kopriva Rehling, two of my favorite people. And, then, in January will travel to Australia to play several places in that immense continent, which is as large as our own.
Also in early December, I will play with Mari Mack in San Francisco for the Bread and Roses organization.
I recorded a CD some time ago and we are inching forward to a release date for it.

In October, my wife and I travelled to the Finger Lakes Region of New York to visit the Corning Glass Museum, the Glenn Curtiss Museum, the many wineries surrounding most of the lakes, and to see the wonderful Fall colors. We tasted some great wine and ate at some fine restaurants.I am trying to finish my flying model of the Spirit of St. Louis. Should be done before Spring.Happy Holiday seasons to all. Peter
Dave Getz has been keeping busy. His jazz quartet ‘Straight-Up’ has been playing around the Bay Area for over two years. Aside from their every-other-month stint at the Sleeping Lady in Dave’s home town of Fairfax, the Quartet will be playing at the Marin Country Mart for free on Friday evening, November 29th. In January Dave will be at Sonoma State Art Gallery playing for their annual ‘Art From The Heart” auction. Dave will also be showing some of his art in the show.
Dave also continues to play drums with his wife Joan’s Jazz quartet and occasionally with groups like Mal Sharp’s ‘Big Money in Jazz’ band, The Buddas and with singer Andoni Panici.
Aussie singer Jane Kitto who toured Europe with BB is 2006 has asked Dave and fellow BB member Peter Albin to be part of her band for a tour of Scandinavia and England in June and July of 2014
When he’s not overwhelmed with BBHC business issues such as merchandise, licensing and trying to get BB paid by people appropriating the music, like the Broadway production of ‘An Evening With Janis Joplin,
Dave continues to devote a couple of days a week to his favorite game and recreation, golf, sometimes making birdies but still looking for his second hole-in-one.
Dave is looking forward to December 15th when once again, after a long hiatus Big Brother will take the stage at the Emerald Festival in Santa Rosa with Canned Heat and The Jefferson Starship.
