BOBBY PARKER
R.I.P. DC Blues legend Bobby Parker, age 76. Mr. Parker had his own unique sound and style on guitar, and influenced many world known blues musicians. He had a hit, Watch Your Step, in 1961, that was covered by Carlos Santana, and influenced one of the Beatles’ early hits, I Feel Fine. He had his own style of dressing, and his hair reminded many of James Brown, and he always walked proudly, with just a little swag! Parker was still performing in the DC area; I was called to play for him 2 weeks ago, in fact, but was busy. Bobby Parker had many trials and tribulations in his life, as well as many great times, but his music was always consistently strong!! Heaven has yet another angel for one of its great bands.
