Due to its Afro-American origins, Boney Fields belongs to this musical culture fusing funk, blues and jazz. Walking the scenes for several decades, the singer and trumpeter has made his classes among famous gaming partners like Lucky Peterson, Luther Allison, James Cotton, Buddy Guy, Liz Mc Comb, but also George Clinton, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley or Bootsy Collins. Participant in numerous studio sessions and tours in the funk formations of the 70’s and 80’s. The artist does not seek exposure in the spotlight but learn and understand the profession in all humility. From this universe and tiring journeys, Boney Fields builds its own identity blues rock and copper funk. An assembly that conveys the energetic sevenet on stages such as Jazz in Vienna, Jazz in Marciac, Madajazzar, Tabarka Jazz Festival …
This new book combines the moments inspired by jazzy and especially groovy blues developed by the Big Band. Songs like “Bump City”, “Do not Giving Up On You”, “Dark Side Of A Love Affair”, “You Burn Me Up” … penetrate the mind with a meaningful swing, with a certain dynamic. These compositions transpire funk, electric and copper sounds filled with captivating universes. To confirm the performance qualities of his musicians, “Around The Corner” keeps this course in a purely instrumental way. Emerging from the jazzy background, the band’s training is blues rock and percussive such as “Sadie” and his chorus typified “China Girl” by David Bowie, in the manner of large orchestras by “Ying Yang” and “Bow Legs”. Being able to be touching, Boney Fields lets go the time of the romantic stroll, “Feelings”.
Without forgetting, Boney Fields and his musicians explore horizons that have participated in the creation of the band’s sound. The work transpires the groove during all its titles. The whole is homogeneous and perfectly produced. The twelve tracks are captivating, leaving a sensation of live shots as the atmosphere distils this feeling. A set cut for the stage. The recording and production of this book seem to have been recorded during a public performance. Beautiful sensations and beautiful emotions in perspective while listening to “Bump City”.
