LES BOF!: Franco-Scottish Beat Giants To Release Sophomore Album, “Voila” – Launch Parties in Edinburgh & London

Dirty Water Records – Apr 30, 2019 01:30 BST

Les BOF! are Scotland’s answer to the perennial question that quite possibly no-one ever asked. 60s French yé-yé garage, served up with panache by venerable Scottish fuzz beat Rock n’ Roll emissaries. Their sound brings with it a certain… ‘je ne sais quoi’ – a fusion if you will, of unique, rarefied and aged elements of the garage beat scene, these chaps have been elegantly blended together from the likes of ‘The Thanes,’ ‘The No-Things,’ ‘The Sensation Seekers’ and ‘Preston Pfanz & the Seaton Sands.’ But who are these fellows I hear you ask…?

Well there’s Ross – the drummer who draws together the sophistication of the Highlands, with a gentle, sweet Borders nuttiness. Angus – a guitarist whose robustly flavoured sound is complemented by a smooth dry finish, matured well beyond the standard edition age. Laurent – the chanter exceptional, both light and fruity with a suggestion of lime and a slight woodiness. And finally, Colin – the bass player whose deep notes, triple distilled, bring waves of complexity, often resulting in heartburn.

Following the release of their debut album ‘Nous Sommes les Bof!’ (CopaseDisques) the band have taken their sound both down and back up the British Isles and across the seas to their beloved European continent. Appearing on many an occasion at festivals such as Beatwave, Primitive, Gutterball and Purple Weekend to name but a few. 2018 saw a vintage year for the boys, with a memorable tour of some of Canada and America’s rowdiest east-coast haunts (featuring a live session on WFMU).

After doing the rounds with all their other noisy vehicles, Les BOF! returned home to distil the sounds that had lay for some time in the cool, dusky corners of guitarist Angus McPake’s home-built ‘Ravencraig’ studio, a place where frugally almost none of the angel’s share is knowingly lost. Of course, whilst the exact secrets of its production are only known to the Master Distiller himself, the rumble and twang, the boom, the tonk and the ping are clearly expressed here for your delight and delectation.

But yes dear reader, quite right you are, to truly open up these flavours, one should add a little Dirty Water. This 2019 release will surely help to further the reputation of any connoisseur’s collection with the finest that France, Scotland & Ireland have to offer. Mais oui, mesamis… Les BOF! are back on the scene and ready to share with you a little something of their latest long player: Voila!

THE CAVEMEN: London-Kiwi ‘Lowlife’ Louts Prep European Tour

Dirty Water Records – Apr 07, 2019 21:40 BST

The Cavemen

This news item contains embedded media. Open the news item in your browser to see the content.

Well, here they come again Europe! Last year, The Cavemen dropped one of the fiercest and most delightfully pummeling rock n’ roll long players of recent memory with the appropriately-titled Nuke Earth. If these New Zealand neanderthals weren’t already recognized as the planet’s premier slingers of savage rock n’ roll, Nuke Earth certainly settled the matter emphatically.

Infamous and unapologetic, these London based, ex-pat  Auckland rockers have fast become the undisputed road kings of Europe. With their signature balls-to-the-wall, no-frills approach full of chugging power chords, distorted guitar rhythms, aggressive basslines, punchy drums, rambunctious screaming vocals, and Motorhead-like guitar solos, this brand of high-energy rock ‘n’ roll has made them one of the most commanding live acts on the planet right now.

This month the band will embark on an 11 day rock ‘n’ roll road rager of France and Spain behind two new 7″ singles released in the last six months. ” Burn Out For Love” and  “Lowlife” were both recorded amidst the band’s raid of Brazil a year ago, and it captures this road-tested crew at their peak ferocity.

Indeed, THE CAVEMEN over the last couple of years have pushed the limits of rock ‘n’ roll touring. You better catch ’em in the flesh before the reaper does!

THE HECK: Dutch “Nederbeat” Trio Release Debut Album

Dirty Water Records – Apr 03, 2019 01:17 BST

This news item contains embedded media. Open the news item in your browser to see the content.

The ’60s Dutch “Nederbeat” scene made a huge contribution to the rock’n’roll canon. The Outsiders, Q65, Shocking Blue, Golden Earring, and more. The Heck, all the way from the North of the Netherlands, Drenthe, that is, are the latest heir to the throne.

Singer Henri was the preaching frontman of  de Keefmen and the Miracle Men and this debut album ‘Who? The Heck!!!,’ which is out on Dirty Water Records (London, UK), contains some future sixties-influenced pop classics, served with the power and intensity of punk. Living legend Frans Hagenaarsmanaged to capture the energy of their live shows in the studio which resulted in this timeless debut. Musically the band can be placed somewhere in between the Sonics and Reigning Sound.

Their personal favourites Dead Moon, Seeds, Real Kids and Pagans are present and obviously also the Nederbeat influence; Cuby and the Blizzards, The Outsiders and Q65 can be heard when listening to The Heck! Some other good news is that their sold out and sought after singles ‘Waiting In Line’ and ‘For Cryin’ Out Loud’ are included on the LP!

DONT MISS THE HECK @ LBB THIS MONTH IN LONDON!

LE COSMIC TRIP TOUR 2019: The Scaners, Les Lullies, Weird Omen

Dirty Water Records – Mar 10, 2019 18:43 GMT

► the Scaners
A l’instar d’extra-terrestres, The Scaners évoluent vite et bien.
Enjoy your flight !

THE SCANERS: Future Generation Miscreants Launch Second Album Attack

Dirty Water Records – Feb 08, 2019 11:11 GMT

The Scaners II

This news item contains embedded media. Open the news item in your browser to see the content.

Punk, 2077. Dragged from a burnt out spaceship in the scorching heat of the Benidorm desert to a neon-lit Chinese disco on the dark side of the moon.  THE SCANERS . French gonzo-synth punks and intergalactic scuzzball house band. Miscreants from a future generation. Clad in white from head to toe, bug-eye shades peer out through a dirty water fog. They play a blistering set of songs that will propel, or had already propelled, them through the atmosphere on a fix of adrenalin in 2019. Is it the past or the future, for the present seems far away?

Their second album, put simply, ‘II’, is a breakthrough moment, when the crawling Lo Spider once again takes control of this paranoiac, extra-terrestrial-abducted and abducting quartet and bounces the finished 12 doses into the hands of garage master Jim Diamond for mastering. The result? Another bombastic, swirling garage acid trip through the stratosphere. Insane flights in the spiked punch bowl that is our galaxy.

Destination: UNKNOWN. Lifeform: UNIDENTIFIED. Infection: CONFIRMED

Photo: Patrick Principe

Once again, as on their debut album, that which hit many ‘best of 2018’ lists, we are hurtling through space, kidnapped and unaware of where we head. With THESCANERS as our only guides we’re tripping through on hyperspeed right from opener Please Abduct Me. Gonzo space punk a-go-go. The songs on II fly by full of alien abandon. More new-wave than their debut, but still an intergalactic riot.

In 1947 they crash-landed. In 1977 they took off. In 2017 they returned and in 2019 they are preparing for a full invasion. Finally the British Government are taking the imminent threat seriously. “The take-home message here is that there’s probably something out there, but we don’t know what it is. It’s an extraordinary revelation, not least because it directly contradicts the many specific denials that the US government has issued previously when asked about this subject, and their involvement in it. This isn’t quite the ‘spaceship in a hangar’ smoking gun the UFO lobby was hoping for. This is real!”

Europe is on the move, succumbing to the infectious tractor beam-like tunes of The Scaners. All that is left is for the rest of the world to awake from their lucid dream state, shake off their shackles, and take flight.

Buy the ticket . Take the ride.

POWERSOLO: Danish ‘Donkey-Punk’ Legends Pony Up USA Tour Dates Ahead of SXSW Showcase & New LP/EP Release

Heads up Muthafuckas!

Danish rock and roll legends PowerSolo are bringing their circus over to the USA to support the brand new 7-inch “Transfixing Motherfucker”  just out via Slovenly and a newly pressed USA edition of their 2018 killer long platter offering “Bo-Peep” which officially comes out in March on Dirty Water Records USA.

BO-PEEP was conceived, written and partially recorded during an extended weekend of solitary recluse at the Waikiki of Denmark. One man. One guitar. One kick drum. One microphone. Two bottles of absinthe. Once back in the big, bad, Jutlandian metropolis of Aarhus Kix added more guitars, drums, organs and his old secret weapon: The tripple bass. He even met up with his Railthin Brother Bo who laid down a few dope beats on a couple of songs for Christ and old times’ sake. Mixing was achieved through the divine intervention of Mr. Nik Heyman, and a final layer of dirt was shoveled into the woodchipper by Emil Thomsen at ET Mastering. 17 songs in total. The ones too strong for unlimited release were chosen to comprise the 7-inch 45rpm wonder that is PEEK-A-BO. Released to a limited USA pressing of 300 copies on green vinyl.

The Power of Solo

2019 is the year of the SOLO. The Atomic Child that so many many years rode alongside Brother Kix on a horse called Mule and defeated audiences across the Globus with his mighty axe decided to take a load off and lay his barking dawgs to rest by the fireplace at Casa Railthin. Enjoying his PowerOtium looking at all the platinum records, Grannies and other prestigious awards and sparkling trophies from two decades of confrontational badassery on stage and record both, Brother Beaueserves nothing but our utmost respect and praise for his lifelong dedication to rock’n’roll and beyond.

But The PowerSolo forges on. A juggernaut through the big, black narcotic night, Kim Kix and his merry band is once again setting sail towards the clubs, festivals, dives, concert halls, your mother’s house, bars, ball rooms and other entertainment establishments. And this year they’re armed with fresh kick-face material taken from  Both releases that will be available on all futuristic megapixel bitcoin platforms in due course, but you can skip that and order them HERE and  HERE from both establishments. But, why not kill two birds with just one donkey-punk and go see the band LIVE and give them your shekels for BOTH of these fine wax offerings instead?

DUSTAPHONICS :  DJ Healer Selecta , aka Yvan Serrano, is one of those characters with multiple musical talents, who has traced his own individual and highly independent journey from the beginning. Guitarist, composer, group leader, talent scout, art director, record producer, radio man and one of the UK’s most acclaimed professional DJs in the Vintage music scene. (Dj for Eartha Kitt show, Wanda Jackson, Spanky Wilson, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Ike Turner, JD McPherson, Glastonbury fest, etc)

Lately, you can discover Serrano, in the movie “Boom” about the cult Garage Punk Rock from Seattle: The Sonics, directed by the talented American filmmaker Jordan Albertsen of Los Angeles. Yvan formed his Dustaphonics project in London in 2008, when American actress Tura Satana (Russ Meyer’s Faster Pussy Cat Kill Kill) asked him to create songs for his next film. For the best result, Serrano invited 4 young singers who had never played Rock N Roll on stage or in the studio to be front ladies. Aina was in the London hip-hop scene. Kay was in London’s underground jazz scene.

SPANISH TOUR DATES

Thursday 14 Feb Logroño at Stereo

Friday 15 Feb Pamplona at Nebula

Saturday 16 Feb Vitoria at Helldorado + Los TIki Surfers

Sunday 17 Feb Bilbao at Nave 9

Hayley sang in a tribute band and had never recorded or written songs before,Gizelle was already a well-known Soul singer and in this year 2019, the collective welcomes another sensational Soul singer Rislane. DJ Healer Selecta (Freestyle Records) invited them to “dustaphonice” their energies and voices. Designer La Mia Bo London proposed glamorous outfit ideas for the stage! Et voilà, by grouping and channeling the talents of each one, the Dustaphonics machine created its effect and goes through its merry way for 10 years, thanks to this specific vision of Serrano, forming an interchangeable 4 pieces line up with members from a team of talented and charming singers and outstanding musicians: Bruce Brand, Dan Whaley, Michael Jablonka, Ludo Nagy, Mike Thorne, Pablo Rodas not to mention Yvan Serrano.

Whatever the crew on mission with Serrano tonight on stage, Dustaphonics will share with their fans this original repertoire and this common passion for Vintage Rhythm & Blues sound, Soul, Surf, Rockabilly, Garage Rock and by their savoir-faire, will deliver a modern, authentic and enthusiastic performance, for an energetic and show of quality. From time to time, Dustaphonics accompanies the Blues Brothers /Ghosts Busters actor Dan Aykroyd on stage at his private parties in London where he sings Chicago Blues / Blues Brothers classics. Opening also for legends like Martha Reeves & The Vandellas (Motown Records) The Sonics, Wanda Jackson, The Pretty Things, Sam Gopal, Fleshtones, Fuzztones, Kid Congo, James Hunter, Gallon Drunk, Bellrays, Jim Jones Revue, Barrence Whitfield, Sanseverino, etc..

THE LEGENDARY TIGERMAN: Blues-Punk “Misfit” Announces European Tour Dates

Dirty Water Records – Feb 05, 2019 07:11 GMT

The Legendary Tigerman – European Tour Dates

Tigerman is all about roots, the essence of things, always keeping it real, gritty and true. From 2001 to 2006 he recorded three records that established him as one of Europe’s best kept secrets, playing festivals from Japan to Brazil.

Next month he will kick off another European tour behind his latest album “MIsfit” which was released last year to widespread critical acclaim. “We’re starting the tour in UK — we’re gonna hit London soon”, says Paulo Furtado. “Then we’re coming back to France, Germany, and Switzerland to finish off the month. Then we go back in Spain in May. We’re gonna keep playing all over UK and Europe this year. The record is out in the rest of Europe and in South America and in the US too.”

The story of The Legendary Tigerman’s awaited sixth album, ‘Misfit’, starts with a road movie, ‘How To Become Nothing’, a three-head project by Paulo Furtado, Rita Linoand Pedro Maia. In May 2016, the trio landed in Los Angeles to film a psychedelic adventure in the form of a road movie between Los Angeles and Death Valley, about the philosophically disturbed journey of a man searching to become nothing. During two weeks of traveling, Paulo ‘Tigerman’ Furtado spent his days writing the diaries of this imaginary man, acting, while at night, in motel rooms across the California deserts, armed with a Gibson SG, he started writing the songs of ‘Misfit’. The album was recorded at Rancho de La LunaDave Catching’s legendary studio in Joshua Tree, in the heart of the Mojave Desert, and mixed and co-produced in Parisby Johnny Hostile (The Savages, John & Jehn) at Pop Noire Studios.

“We recorded in a very simple and classic, yet powerfully equipped studio in the desert,” says Paulo, “and having it mixed by someone with a fresh approach to rock & punk was my original desire, and, for me, the key for recording a truly powerful, non-compromising 21st Century Rock ́n ́Roll record.”

ORDER THE LEGENDARY TIGERMAN “MISFIT” ON WHITE 12″ VINYL/CD/DIGITAL

“I wanted to create a ‘wall of sound’. By playing guitar through five different amplifiers with a wide range of effects, using drum & bass machines, and with this unique combo of heavy guitars, a low baritone sax and big fat drums, I do believe we found some rock ́n ́roll sounds that we had never heard before. In December 2016, the musicians and I headed back to the desert, for twelve days. We lived the slow desert life, between the studio, the Joshua Tree Saloon, and the Pappy and Harriets, a pub in Pioneer Town, where we went to enjoy some live music. While Dave cooked some amazing Louisiana and Tex-Mex dishes for dinner, fueled with red wine, Modelo beer and Tequila, we recorded the songs in live takes, and then built the wall of sound with overdubs.”

Paulo Furtado, on the concept and origins of ‘Misfit’: “I got inspired by Dave Richmond’s book How To Disappear Completely and Never Be Found, said Paulo, and imagined the journey of a man called Misfit who wanted to lose himself in the desert and actually become nothing. Therefore, in May 2016, me and my image crew, we headed to Los Angeles and for twelve days we travelled until we had reached our final destination; Death Valley.

“Everyday during this journey, I would wake up at 6:30 am and write a new entry to the diary of this man,” says Paulo. “Before going to sleep, I would always try to write a song. I wanted to write songs that were influenced by the desert, by its heat, by the suffering of this quest, and by this man.”
