This culminates a very active year for Gary.
He enters the new year with high profile shows in Santander Spain–
including the premiere of his new live film score for the Chinese silent classic “The Goddess” Jan. 9th–
followed by the release of his OTHERWORLD duo album with legendary Peter Hammill Feb. 3rd,
and their live debut Feb. 21st at London’s Union Chapel.
Gary recently played his fourth sold-out show of the year at the Cineteca Nacional in Mexico City.
He packed the Cineteca Nacional in Mexico City Sat. night Nov. 30th with fans young and old eager to hear his original live solo guitar score–1 hour 45 minutes of continuous playing– accompanying the rare 1931 Spanish-language “Dracula” (d. George Melford, with Lupita Tovar and Carlos Villarias). The sold-out crowd gave Gary a standing ovation at the end of the evening. He followed this the next day with his Captain  Beefheart Symposium at Casa Del Lago, Mexico City’s biggest park.
This marks Gary Lucas’ fourth sold-out performance this year:

First review just in for Gary Lucas’ new “Cinefantastique” album:
Guitar wizard Gary Lucas’ impressive CV includes stints with Captain Beefheart and writing iconic songs with Jeff Buckley. As a movie buff, he also often performs one-man live soundtracks to macabre classics like Spanish “Dracula”. His hypnotic, cinematic virtuosity is celebrated further on this stirring record, which also includes re-imagined guitar scores to cult, classic flicks by Fellini, Hitchcock and Herzog.”
