Recorded, mixed & mastered at Kid Andersen‘s Greaseland Studios in San José, California, Dog Eat Dog contains twelve dynamic songs, eight of which are original compositions. Billy Price assembled a group of incredibly talented and accomplished musicians to perform with him on this album including Christoffer Lund Andersen (guitar & assorted instruments), Alexander Pettersen (drums), Jerry Jemmott (bass), and Jim Pugh (keyboards). Dog Eat Dog also includes Lisa Leuschner Andersen (vocals), Jon Otis (congas/percussion), Vicki Randle(congas, vocals), Eric Spaulding (tenor sax), John Halbleib (trumpet), Jack Sanford(baritone sax), Charlie Owen (background vocals), and The Sons of The Soul Revivers(background vocals). Add to that a few renowned guest musicians such as Mike Zito(guitar), Rick Estrin (harmonica), and Alabama Mike (vocals) and you have a tasty treat for the ears!

In September, Otis Clay and I combined our bands for two great shows in Bethesda, Maryland and Pittsburgh, Pa. 
I asked my friend Tony Buba of Braddock Films to document our Pittsburgh show. Tony enlisted a team of videographers, including Director Darin DiNapoli, and we are now proud to make seven videos from that evening available on ourYouTube channel. Here’s a sample:

December Shows
Jimmy Britton, keyboard player of the Billy Price Band, and I will have the pleasure of teaming with our pals The Nighthawks from Washington, D.C. this Friday night, December 18, at  Moondog’s Pub in Blawnox Pa. The show starts at 8:30 pm.
The Billy Price Band will also participate this year in Pittsburgh’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration, First Night, with shows at the Byham Theater in the Cultural District at 6:30, 8:45, and 10 pm on December 31.
We hope you will plan to celebrate the holidays with us by attending one or both of these shows.

Billy Price Signs with Vizztone Label Group; This Time for Real by Price and Otis Clay Coming May 19

This Time for Real on Bonedog Records, the first full-album collaboration between Billy Price and deep soul/gospel great Otis Clay,will be released by Vizztone Label Group on May 19, 2015.

The album was produced by award-winning guitarist Duke Robillard and features the Duke Robillard Band, the Roomful of Blueshorns, and three veteran vocalists who perform regularly with Clay, Theresa Davis, Dianne Madison, and Diana Simon.

“Otis Clay has been my mentor and biggest influence as a singer since the first time I had the privilege of singing with him,” says Price. “To have the opportunity to collaborate with him on an entire album has been one of the biggest thrills of my career.”

We are happy to announce that Tom Valentine, former longtime bass player and vocalist with Billy Price and the Keystone Rhythm Band and Glenn Pavone & the Cyclones, has joined the Billy Price Band full-time. We will celebrate Val’s arrival this Saturday night, January 10 at the Club Café, doors at 6, show at 7.Tickets are going fast, so get yours now.

Also this month, we welcome to the U.S. my friend and collaborator, the brilliant French guitarist Fred Chapellier, with whom I have had the honor to record three albums: Fred’s A Tribute to Roy Buchanan; Night Work, featuring the Billy Price Band; and Live on Stage, a CD/DVD package recorded in France with Fred’s great band and keyboardist Jimmy Britton of the BP Band.

Fred will be here for two weeks–three nights in the Washington DC/Baltimore/Virginia area with me and the Soul Serenaders (Tommy Lepson, Pete Ragusa, Jan Zukowski, Bruce Swaim, and Vince McCool) on January 15, 16, and 18; January 23 with Billy Price & the Lost Minds at NOLA on the Square in Pittsburgh; and January 24 with the Billy Price Band at Moondog’s in Blawnox, Pa. January will kick off what we expect to be a great year, including the release of This Time for Real, my new album with Otis Clay, produced by Duke Robillard (read all about it in this PDF press release).

Spring Is Here, and We Are on the Move

After a rough winter in Pittsburgh (and everywhere else), the Billy Price Band is coming out of hibernation with gigs that include two of our favorites local venues. Of course, you know that one of these is at Pittsburgh’s blues mecca, the venerableMoondog’s in scenic Blawnox, Pa. We will be howling this Saturday, April 19, beginning at 9 pm.

About a month later, you can join us on Pittsburgh’s historic South Side for an early show in the best performance space we know, the Club Café, on Saturday, May 17 at 7 pm. Tickets go fast at the Club Café, so make plans now to come spend a couple of hours getting up close and personal with us.
We are working hard to book lots of shows for you in 2014. Ourwebsite schedule is always up to date, so please visit often. We hope to see you many times this year!
