Doors: 6:30 pm / Show: 8:00 pm

The Cutting Room 44 E. 32nd Street, New York, NY

Purchase Tickets HERE:  $25 Advanced – $30 Day of Show

“A killer voice, and three-octave range at his disposal, Ola is a class act among many lesser, certainly less intelligent, soul-jazz Joes.”  – Jazzwise Magazine, UK
Ola’s emotionally charged live performances and impactive shows have taken Ola and his band to some of the most prestigious festival stages, concert halls and jazz clubs as well as several different tours in the UK and around the world.  In Germany, Ola has collaborated with The WDR Big Band in Cologne Philharmonie, The Babelsberg Film Orchestra in Nikolaisaal Potsdam and most recently with The SWR Big Band at the Jazzfest Aalen with arrangements of his beautifully crafted songs.
The Press say Ola possesses “…a stunning voice of enormous range and emotional clout.” His voice is “beautifully clear and appealingly textured, almost classical …with a range and elasticity to match his rich tonal qualities.”
… a master of his instrument, a superb storyteller, a gracious human-being.”

JAZZ MYSTERY AUDIO BOOK
By Joan Merrill “And All That Madness”
NOW AVAILABLE! JAZZ MYSTERY AUDIO BOOK!
Narrated by KCSM’s Alisa ClancyThe jazz mystery ”And All That Madness” by Joan Merrill is now available as an audio book narrated
by long-time radio host Alisa Clancy (Morning Cup of Jazz at KCSM Jazz91)Listen to a sample: HERE
AND ALLTHAT MADNESS is a well-constructed, slickly-told detective story that follows San Francisco PI Casey McKie as she encounters now-aging people who were involved in the 1950s singer Georgia Valentine’s life, among them musicians, agents, former lovers, criminals, cops, archivists, fans, all of them realistically portrayed. (By the way, the author keeps the reader guessing and I was agreeably surprised at the identity of the killer.)This is Merrill’s fourth Casey McKie tale, and this one emphatically underlines the writer’s many qualities, among which are her secure knowledge of jazz, her believable settings, and her light touch with dialogue. Definitely a good read.

May 19, 2014

New York, NY, The Cutting Room and Frank Vignola are pleased to announce a very special evening featuring the 94 year old guitar legend Al Caiola accompanied by Frank’s duo guitar partner Vinny Raniolo and a very special surprise guest.

This one night only event is a rare opportunity to see one of the all-time legends of the guitar Mr. Al Caiola.

Born Alexander Emil Caiola, September 7, 1920,  in Jersey City, New Jersey his ability as  a guitarist to play in many styles; jazzcountryrockwestern, and pop made him an in-demand session player in the busy recording scene centered in New York City during the 1950s and 60s.
As a sideman and a leader he’s appeared on over 50 albums and has worked with some of the biggest stars in the business including Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Percy Faith, Buddy Holly, Mitch Miller, and Tony Bennett to name a few.
His guitar work is heard not only on many pop hits of the day, but many TV and film soundtracks too: The Magnificent Seven, From Russia with Love, Bonanza, The Ballad of Paladin, The Rebel and Gunslinger being some of the more notable ones from that era.
Still active into his 9th decade he tours on a regular basis with pop vocal legend Steve Lawrence.

Frank Vignola is one of the most extraordinary guitarists performing before the public today. His stunning virtuosity has made him the guitarist of choice for many of the world’s top musicians, including Ringo Starr, Madonna, Donald Fagen, Wynton Marsalis, Tommy Emmanuel, Mark OConnor, the Boston Pops, the New York Pops, and guitar legend Les Paul, who named Vignola to his “Five Most Admired Guitarists List” for the Wall Street Journal. Vignola¹s jaw-dropping technique explains why the New York Times deemed him “one of the brightestŠstars of the guitar”.

At age 26, Vinny Raniolo has already performed at some of the top venues in the world with his music. Vinny is dedicated to his career as a professional touring musician, studio musician, educator, and arranger. Vinny has been on numerous recordings with Bucky Pizzarelli, Tommy Emmanuel, Tony Trishka, Matt Flinner, Ken Peplowski to name a few. Vinny is also an experienced educator and has taught classes at Bowling Green University, Kent State University, Asiago Music Conservatory, and others.

In addition to Al, Frank and Vinny there will be a very special surprise guest guitarist.
