DAVID GILMOUR BECOMES FIRST MUSIC ICON TO RECEIVE FULL HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME MONUMENT – LIFE-SIZE STATUE UNVEILED IN HISTORIC CEREMONY

In an emotional ceremony that nearly brought Sunset Boulevard to a standstill, David Gilmour created a new historic milestone: he became the first artist ever to be honored with a full-body bronze statue on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, far surpassing the traditional star plaque that has existed for decades.

The statue depicts David Gilmour in his legendary Pulse–era glory, with a sparkling crystal-encrusted Black Stratocaster, his iconic intense gaze, and his signature understated rock attire. It was unveiled right in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre. Standing over 9 feet tall including its pedestal, the statue shines under the California sun thanks to more than 40,000 Swarovski crystals personally donated by David Gilmour.

“I never thought I would see myself turned into a statue, especially holding that guitar,” he said emotionally as his family and thousands of cheering fans stood by. “But if I’m going to stand on Hollywood Boulevard forever, let it shine brightly.”

The honor was unanimously approved by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce after receiving a global petition with 2.8 million signatures. Right after the unveiling, guest artists performed a surprise medley of iconic songs associated with David Gilmour.

At the end of the ceremony, David Gilmour placed his hand on the statue’s heart and whispered, “Thank you for always standing with me.”

The David Gilmour monument is now open to the public at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard.
