Following the cancellation of ZZ Top’s August 5th concert at the Hollywood Bowl, TMZ is now reporting that drummer Frank Beard is facing serious health issues.

At the time of the show’s last-minute cancellation, the band cited only “unforeseen personnel matters” and “insurmountable obstacles.” The concert was supposed to kick off the band’s “The Big One” tour, featuring a rotating lineup of supporting acts including Cheap Trick, George Thorogood & the Destroyers, and others.

The tour has since continued, with drummer Michael Monahan filling in for Beard. Monahan previously played with ZZ Top when Beard temporarily stepped away from the band last year due to foot and ankle issues.

With Beard exiting ZZ Top’s “The Big One” tour and bassist Dusty Hill’s death in 2021, Billy Gibbons is now the only classic member of the band performing in the group’s current lineup.
