The Deep Purple vocalist has shared that he underwent a 10-hour open-heart surgery at UCLA’s Ronald Reagan Medical Center and is now home after an eight-day stay. It comes about two months after he announced his retirement from touring and live shows, saying he had “no option and no choice” as his health comes first.

Hughes added that he feels something beyond “gratitude.” After 58 years of making records and touring the globe, we’re sending him all our best for a smooth recovery
