Opening Act : Casey Erdmann

Not one to sit still musically, Mehldau kicks it up at The Falcon by presenting new works for synthesizer.
One of the most lyrical and intimate voices of contemporary jazz piano, Brad Mehldau has forged a unique path, which embodies the essence of jazz exploration, classical romanticism and pop allure. From critical acclaim as a bandleader to major international  exposure in collaborations with Pat Metheny, Renee Fleming, and Joshua Redman, Mehldau continues to garner numerous awards and admiration. Brilliant re-workings of songs by contemporary songwriters like The Beatles, Cole Porter, Radiohead, Paul Simon, Gershwin and Nick Drake; with his significant catalogue of original compositions, proclaim his affection for popular music and classical training. His inspired musicianship has garnered praise across the nation, prompting the Los Angeles Times to say he’s become “universally admired as one of the most adventurous pianists to arrive on the jazz scene in years.”
“Mehldau’s persistence in expanding the piano trio repertoire deserves notice. His choices include Radiohead, Nick Drake, the Beatles and Paul Simon. Because jazz has veered dangerously close to becoming a museum piece, we need this type of engagement with new sounds more than ever, and Mehldau is one of the most uninhibited musicians of his generation to open new doors.” Ted Gioia/Jazz.com
The Falcon is proud to present Brad and hopes that you will join us…
