Omar Hakim Recovering in the Hospital, Lenny White and Will Calhoun to Step in for Upcoming Tour Dates
NEW YORK CITY – MAY 29, 2026 – Rachel Z announced today that Omar Hakim will step away from upcoming tour dates due to hospitalization from a recent illness. Lenny White (http://www.lennywhite.com/), legendary drummer, will join the band for upcoming June 2026 tour dates.
“Omar’s health is our absolute priority right now,” says Rachel Z. “We thank everyone for their support these past few weeks, it means so much to us. We are incredibly grateful to Lenny and Will for stepping in. We look forward to seeing everyone soon.”
Guitarist Paul Pesco (http://www.paulpesco.com/) will also be joining the band on the upcoming tour.

At 19, Lenny White played with Jackie McLean, recorded Bitches Brew with Miles Davis, and Red Clay with Freddie Hubbard. Lenny is one of the founding fathers of the jazz-rock movement and is a four-time Grammy Award winner. Lenny White earned a worldwide reputation as the
drummer with Return to Forever and has played and collaborated with artists such as Joe Henderson, Gato Barbieri Gil Evans, Stan Getz, Jaco Pastorius, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Carlos Santana, and Chaka Khan. Lenny continues to lead and stay on the cutting edge of music
